ABOUT SILVER PARK

Silver Park is a beautiful outdoor destination nestled along the banks of the Clark Fork River in the heart of Missoula

Silver Park offers a variety of recreational activities for visitors to enjoy, including hiking/biking trails, picnic shelters, boat launch (take out only), parking, accessible public restrooms, and scenic views.

The park has a unique history as it was once the site of a working lumber mill for nearly a century! Once the epicenter of Missoula’s commerce, the mill was abandoned in the early 1990’s, and after an enormous community effort the site was repurposed. Wood waste was composted and reused in city parks. Old concrete foundations were crushed and used to fill excavated log ponds. Abandoned buildings were deconstructed and some materials were used to build shelters in Silver Park.

After more than a decade of planning and redevelopment, the community park was inaugurated in 2014, and now serves as a gem in Missoula’s public landscape, and the perfect place for a sculpture park!

Set directly West of Ogren Park at Allegiance Field, Silver Park can be accessed by car from Wyoming Street, with parking along the street and in the Ogren Park car lot, or by bicycle or walking along the Riverfront Trail.
